• Your Lucky Day: Our Redesigned Newsletter

Top of the Morning (or whenever you might be reading this) to ya! Since I’m posting this blog right around St. Patrick’s Day, I thought I’d keep within the theme, and let you know it’s your lucky day! It has been quite some time since I’ve had the pleasure of writing and sending out a newsletter. We at Cornerstone wanted to take a moment to share a few updates, one of which is that we’ve given our newsletter a bit of a makeover. As you read below, you’ll see an except of what appears in this month’s newest newsletter, which will now feature exclusive content for our subscribers, where our founder, Justin, newly appointed Clinical Director, Dr Jaimee, and other members of the team can provide insights and thought-provoking commentary on real-life issues that you, your friends, your family, and the community at large, face. We’ve also retitled it ‘Notes from the Cornerstone’ to better focus on the purpose of our newsletter: that being to share and provide our insights, or notes, with those in the community we serve. If you’re not subscribed, do so now! There, we will share monthly insights and exclusive content, as well as updates on construction at the new facility, opening within the next six months.

As a part of the redesign, retitling, and rebranding, it’s our goal to provide you with insightful commentary that can only be found here each month. This month, March, we focus on self-reflection, self-love, and self-healing. Read below for Justin’s comments and insights.

What does it mean to love oneself? The reality is that often we can be quite forgiving to others, but cruel or not so easily willing or ready to forgive ourselves for our actions. You may find that you beat yourself up over your past mistakes, particularly when you fail or struggle with keeping to the commitments and expectations you set for yourself. That’s because when we strive and work towards getting better, we can often find that time of self-reflection leads us to self-loathing. I work with so many people who struggle every single day to make the right choices, to work towards overcoming their addictions, whether to alcohol or substances, or sex and pornography.

That’s why I’ve made it a focal point of my practice to help those who are ready to work towards self-healing. That journey is not easy and you will undoubtedly struggle along the way, but I will be there to help support you along the way. Rest assured that this is a journey that will transform your life!

As we enter a time of year when celebrations, such as St Patrick’s Day, March Madness, and the upcoming Spring season that is sure to be filled with birthdays, Mother’s Day, and weddings, it’s easy to get wrapped up in ‘Florida Summer’, which started here in Palm Beach about a week or two ago. The days are getting longer, and about to get longer still, and bars and restaurants are open later. There’s just more for you to do to help distract yourself from the work you need to be doing on yourself. Don’t lose sight of your goals or be distracted by the seasonal festivities. Be reflective, forgive yourself for your past, and even your present, failures, and start anew today! That’s the beauty of the world we live in: every day is a new day! Every morning you wake up, you are gifted with an opportunity to do something different, to be something different, than the day before.

I encourage you to look through our website, which features blogs that are designed to help you re-evaluate your life and work towards building a better tomorrow. Also, read below to discover more about what’s happening at Cornerstone Counseling. We’ve recently started our Men of Integrity therapy group. If you or someone you know would benefit from it, please do not hesitate to contact me or call the office to get set up!

    Wishing you health and happiness,
    Justin McManus, LCSW, CAP, SATP
