• Why Christian Counseling?

What is Christian counseling and why is it important?

Christian counseling is a therapy approach that combines your Christian faith with the principles of psychology to address mental health and help your family relationships and the people around you.

As Christians, we often struggle with feelings of guilt about the possibility of seeking professional counseling. After all, isn’t God enough? Well, YES, of course, He is. However, He also put others on this earth to help us.

God never intended for us to live on our own. Seeking Godly counsel allows us the opportunity to see another, or a new perspective of things. It can also help us not to rush into making decisions that could be potentially a train wreck for the rest of our life!

When we seek counseling, many times we fail to remember we are a WHOLE person. We are body, mind, AND spirit.  When you leave out one component it truly affects the whole person.

Bringing your faith into therapy and working with a like-minded therapist that will integrate Biblical principles and scripture, means that God’s wisdom, instructions, and guidance in our lives are being sought.

Cornerstone Counseling of Palm Beach specialize in working with Catholics and other Christians by integrating a Christian understanding of human flourishing with sound psychological science. We treat your faith with respect and integrate it throughout the counseling and recovery process.

What Does a Christian Counselor Do?

The goal of Christian counseling is to assess and treat mental health problems using faith-based and psychological principles to help you cope and resolve any challenging life issues.

During a Christian counseling session, your Christian counselor or therapist can help to shed light and understanding on your life challenges. They help you identify behaviors that affect your relationships with the people you love and are able to guide you to scriptures that speak directly to you and give daily wisdom.

Look at what Hebrews 4:12 says:  “The Word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it pierces even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart”

Finally, a Christian therapist can pray with and for you. The Bible tells us that where two are more are gathered in My Name, there I am with them.  God cares about you and wants the very best for you. He has a plan and it is for good.

Where there is no counsel, the people will fall; but in the multitude of counselors there is safety.”
