• Telehealth in a Pandemic World

It’s hard to believe that it’s been ten months since the pandemic started and the world shut down. As we’ve spoken about a number of times since then, the pandemic has affected all of our lives in some way or another. This week, we wanted to focus on that, and let you know that we are here to lend an ear and help you cope with those many challenges. We also understand how difficult it might be for you to get into the office because of the pandemic, and so we wanted to take the time to talk about the benefits of telehealth as well. For many, the pandemic has meant a complete change in how you go about doing your job, how your kids go about attending school, and even how you go about communicating with your friends and family. Normal run of the mill changes can often be difficult, so these types of massive changes may have had a catastrophic impact on your life. Increased anxiety, fear of going to the grocery store or church, struggles to find a good home-work life balance, and trouble sleeping are all effects that man have been experiencing since the pandemic began.

One way to try to right the ship may be to start small, such as to give yourself a schedule, and commit to keeping to it, over the course of the next few weeks. If you’re having trouble sleeping, that might mean creating a wind-down schedule to stick to, complete with reading and reflection time. You might also set your lights to dim or shut off at a certain time. One trick that our family likes to do is to limit exposure to screens at night, because that can often keep people up. We have all electronic devices off at a set time to help us prepare for the wind-down time we so desperately need. If your biggest concern is work-life balance, you might try taking up a new hobby and getting some friends to join in. Perhaps each Tuesday you could play virtual cards, practice music or singing, or even meet at a park for a socially distanced picnic.

No matter what you are struggling with, we at Cornerstone are here to help. During these rough times, you may feel like you’re struggling to keep your head above water. You might also feel as though you don’t know where to start. Given pandemic restrictions, and the fact that cases seem to keep climbing, we at Cornerstone wanted to do something about it. That’s why we recently upgraded and updated our telehealth policies and systems to help make virtual appointments simpler, easier, and as stress-free as possible. We also have therapists and clinicians who are now exclusively available to you through telehealth to provide you with the best possible care and support in the luxury of your own home. We of course offer appointments in our office, but we understand that for some, telehealth is the best option. One client who uses telehealth commented to us that “It really is the best thing for me right now. While I’d rather be in the office, given everything going on, it’s the safe bet and super easy to use.” That’s our goal. So if you feel as though you need help, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us today!
