Online Counseling / Telehealth Services
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are dedicated to continue to serve our community’s mental health needs while protecting the health of both our clients and therapists.
What is telehealth and how does it work?
With modern internet technology, we are now able to receive health services from the comfort of our homes.
Telehealth (or teletherapy) is a fairly recent innovation. Telehealth services or online counseling can be very beneficial if getting to a traditional in-person appointment is a hassle for you.
If you lack the time or resources to use public transportation, are physically disabled or live in a remote area, telehealth appointments can help by removing the need to leave your home to attend an appointment.
U.S. Department of Health and Human Services defines telehealth, sometimes called telemedicine — is the use of electronic information and telecommunication technologies to provide care when you and the doctor aren’t in the same place at the same time.
What are examples of telehealth?
There are different types of health care services you can receive through telehealth, which may include:
- Wellness visits
- Health education services
- Skin care visits
- Mental health services
- Online counseling
- Nutrition counseling
- Common infection conditions such as UTI, sinusitis, rashes, etc.
- Remote monitoring of vital signs, ECG, etc.
Teletherapy allows the facilitation of mental health services such as online counseling to patients via live video conferencing. Thanks to modern technology, just about everyone in the U.S. has a smartphone or tablet capable of video chat.
This ease of access to make video calls has revolutionized the mental health industry, allowing therapists and doctors to interact with patients through a convenient video call.
We are excited to now offer Telehealth services with our therapists at Cornerstone Counseling of Palm Beach!
