About Cornerstone
Cornerstone Counseling of Palm Beach is the brainchild of our founder, Justin McManus. After years working in the counseling profession working with youth and adults to overcome their struggles with depression, anxiety, and addictions, Justin recognized the need for a practice that could focus on providing more personalized care in the Palm Beach community. He started a private practice in May of 2013 in North Palm Beach, focusing initially on counseling services for individuals, children, and families in the area. A devout Catholic, Justin also recognized the importance of being able to provide faith-based counseling. His familiarity with up-to-date counseling methods combined with his understanding of the role faith plays in people’s lives helped him to recognize that often, faith is significant in a person’s ability to work through their toughest moments.
2015 was a big year for us at Cornerstone. In February of 2015, the practice was renamed ‘Cornerstone Counseling of Palm Beach’ to reflect that focus on faith and expanded to be a group practice by adding our first associate clinician to the practice. By the fall, Justin began working with seminarians at St. Vincent de Paul Regional Seminary in Boynton Beach, Florida, helping to provide growth counseling to aid in the human formation process of seminary students.
Cornerstone’s growth was just beginning, however. In the summer of 2016, we moved to our current office in Palm Beach Gardens in order to expand and hire even more clinicians, each who brings their talents and expertise to our practice. This expansion also saw us being able to not only have a deeper and stronger impact on the community, but enabled us to become the comprehensive counseling center we are today. Our clinicians are trained in a variety of areas, meaning we can provide mental health care to anyone from early adolescence to end-of-life. In August 2019, with added clinicians, we began providing Psychological Evaluation services to the Diocese of Palm Beach for their candidates for both the seminary and the permanent diaconate program, furthering our commitment to providing the best faith-based care in the area. Currently, we provide a full range of counseling and evaluation services for clergy candidates and seminary students from dioceses throughout the southeastern United States and are a premier practice for faith-based counseling.
During the Covid-19 Pandemic, Cornerstone entered a new phase when we collaborated with Dr. Marc Ettensohn, who saw a need in the community for people with treatment resistant depression. He began Cornerstone Psychiatric Care as a partner practice and we collaborated throughout the Pandemic and continue to share a number of clients.
As 2022 began, Cornerstone has grown quite substantially. We’ve added a number of providers to our team, and continue to expand our services as we focus on providing quality mental health services. Our providers focus on CBT, DBT, Trauma-Informed Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and a host of modalities to help each of our clients overcome life’s obstacles.
Most recently, Cornerstone Counseling of Palm Beach has entered a new phase. In October 2022, we moved from our old offices into a newer building more centrally located in Palm Beach Gardens and the north county area. The move was also made with a focus on fulfilling our mission as a practice: to help individuals and families flourish as we treat the whole person: mind, body, and soul. As we enter our next phase, Cornerstone Counseling of Palm Beach is proud to provide quality care and services for your mental health needs. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us.
